- 1 boxed brownie mix, prepared according to the directions
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups roasted unsalted pecan pieces, roughly chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9 x 9-inch pan with parchment paper on all sides. Set aside.
- Prepare the brownie mix according to directions on the box. Pour the brownies into the prepared pan, using a rubber spatula to spread the batter evenly to the sides.
- After 15 minutes, take the brownies out of the oven. They will still be raw, but set enough to hold up the pecan pie layer. Set aside to cool slightly.
- While the brownies are cooling, make the pecan pie topping. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, egg, butter, vanilla and salt. Fold in the pecans. Set aside.
- Once the brownies are somewhat cool, pour the pecan pie filling over the brownie layer, using a spatula to gently spread the filling out evenly without pressing it too far into the brownie layer.
- Return the brownies to the oven for another 20 minutes or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out mostly clean.
- Allow to cool completely to room temperature to set before slicing into 16 brownies. Enjoy!
