For the brownie bottom:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark- or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder

For the pecan topping::

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup light (or medium) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups whole pecans

If you don’t have a tall pie pan, you can also use an 8″x8″ brownie pan and cut these into bars!
